Hewlett Packard Deskjet Printer: I found a large clump of black ink inside printer! Plus, a few other problems

When I was replacing the ink cartridges for my HP inkjet printer, I looked inside the printer with a flashlight...on the right side near the bottom of the printer, I saw black shiny gunk. I put on a latex glove %26amp; wedged my hand in there %26amp; was able to remove a solid glop of black ink. That area had a significant amount of wet black ink, too.

Does this mean that my HP black ink cartridge leaked? How could this happen that a big glop of black ink settled on the right bottom side of the printer?

Also, when I use the HP toolbox to check the level of ink in the cartridges, it's no longer accurate. Plus, I just installed a brand new HP color ink cartridge, and every time I print something, a window pops up and states that the color ink cartridge is improperly installed. But it's properly installed.

I used a remanufactured color ink cartridge from Staples for a few months and, during this time, some of the problems started with it saying color cartridge was improperly installed.Hewlett Packard Deskjet Printer: I found a large clump of black ink inside printer! Plus, a few other problems
HP's have done that for years, I'll bet you found it under the cartridge harness ? where the cartridges sit when the printer is not in use, take both cartridges out of the printer, now get a bunch of Q tips and a small bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol, dip the Q tip into the alcohol, and clean the area, you will go through a lot of Q tips but it will get clean, now on the back of the cartridge you will see a small electronic board that is called the contact board, dip a Q tip into the alcohol, turn the Q tip sideways and gently rub the contact board, if the Q tip gets dirty, use a clean one, and repeat the process, do both cartridges, also do the same to the board on the cartridge harness, wait a few minutes and reinstall the cartidges, hope this helped, if you still have a problem e mail me I can help you, read my avatar, good luck.Hewlett Packard Deskjet Printer: I found a large clump of black ink inside printer! Neither problem is typical of HP printers using HP cartridges (my printers are years old, and have gone through dozens of cartridges each), but both problems are typical of HP printers that have had remanufactured cartridges used in them.
HP is advertising that they printers are using picoliters of ink while printing. What they didnt say is that some process inside the machine is spending liters 8-) of ink.

This is told you by someone who loses one printer + one pants + one parquet, because of black ink.
Cat this is a awesome question i have the same problem to and i don't used my printer because i don't know how to change the ink, but i can try now that Carm gave you the correct answer thanks for asking thanks to carm againt. Peace....... God Bless you Carm
