I havent used my printer in a while and now the black ink barely prints on paper it isnt empty.?

is there a way to prime the ink back or somethingI havent used my printer in a while and now the black ink barely prints on paper it isnt empty.?
Remove your Black cartridge from printer.

Hold under ';Hot'; tap-water; let the water get fairly hot, then hold printhead {only} in running water for 7 to 10 seconds.

If necessary, do this 3-4 times.

With printhead facing down, use a paper towel - firmly hold printhead onto paper towel - ink should ';wick'; onto towel.

Do not ';Wipe'; printhead with paper towel; would probably result in damage to the printhead.

If you visabily see ink on towel, re-try cartridge in printer.

If not, using a pan, mix ~ 50% Ammonia / 50% Water; heat until is is steaming, but not boiling - hold printhead in solution for ~ 10 seconds, then use paper towel.

If all else fails, try using 50% alcohol %26amp; 50% water - alcohol may damage or destroy you're printhead.

Good Luck,

Ken C.

I assume the print head is blocked if it is a bubble jet you could try running the print utility or cleaning the print nozzles in cloudy ammonia if your print cartridge is micro chipped your best bet is to run the print nozzle check failing that replace the cartridge
it is empty or dried up. Some ppl say if you leave power on to printer is keeps ink jet warm and prevents this? Either way get it re inked they cheaper than new

  • Is paper that has been written on or has printer or pen ink on safe for rats?

I am trying to cut paper into small pieces quickly to at least half fill a ten gallon aquarium for my rats to play in, because I have heard they love it. I got some clean white paper that I am trying to cut into very small pieces (Taking forever as I don't have a paper shredder) but I am pretty sure my mom will complain about this and possibly dump it. ( I will try to take to school and recycle when done with it but probably not as it will have to be dirty before I am done with it, with poop or pee or just rotting or something) So, I thought I might cut up used paper or something. But I know with newspaper you should only use soy based ink (not that I know how to check if it has soy based ink or not) and I am pretty sure I shouldn't use that, but would it be okay for this? Or if it just has pencil on it? or notebook paper, or printer paper?

Please help. Oh, and if you know, do you think this is safe to do in the first place, I think that the paper would be sharp and poke them, maybe even in the eye, so I am not completely sure On this. Sure, there is newspaper, but I am not sure on that.Is paper that has been written on or has printer or pen ink on safe for rats?
Actually, I used shredded toilet paper! I have hamsters that love digging in the shoebox full of it. People use index cards for birds, so I guess clean paper is ok...Is paper that has been written on or has printer or pen ink on safe for rats?
Yeah, i'd be worried about them getting poked with the edges too. I've always used newspaper, though I rarely keep my rats in cages.
You can buy a bag of soft paper stuff from pet stores for about 拢2/$4, wouldnt that be cheaper and a lot easier?
it may hurt them with the writing on it, because if they eat paper with ink or led on it, they could get sick.
I use ripped up toilet paper and newspaper for my rat and she loves it.. im sure as a pet lover like i am getting a bit worried about if there going to poke there eye(s) on the paper but remember rats are really intelligent and know were the sharp corners are as they move it themselves to make there bed...i also agree with one person who said buy the ready shredded paper from the pet shop. As that is basically made for there beds.

i would use cotton wool balls, shredded newspaper.toilet paper and recycled paper and also the shredded paper from the pet shop to make there lives all comfy and nice for them..as well as using sawdust...they do deserve the best comfort in life.

    hope this helps!

How do you change the ink in a printer?

i hve an hp 5610v all in oneHow do you change the ink in a printer?
If you have the manual that came with it, the instructions will be listed in there to show you how to change it out. Also there are usually instructions on the inside of the printer that will explain it to you in graphical detail. Otherwise you will probably find your answer at the site listed below. How do you change the ink in a printer?
    RTFM
There should be instruction on the inside of the manual book or possibly on your computer printer program, or may be inside the actual printer which sometimes are posted right on the surface inside printers. Good luck.
When you have questions like this, its always best to check your documentation or visit your manufacturer's website for product specific help. :)

I have a HP printer. I use HP INK # 56 for black and # 57 for color.?

What is your experiences with re-filling the old cartridges with ink at Office Depot, Staples, Office Max etc..etc...

    Is it messy?

Is it worth it?I have a HP printer. I use HP INK # 56 for black and # 57 for color.?
Yes it is worth it. I recommend it.I have a HP printer. I use HP INK # 56 for black and # 57 for color.?
I have 20 years of cartridge refill experience and made a living doing it, not sure I never bought ink from a store, I bought it by the gallon through my supplier, yes it is messy at first but take your time and do it over a garbage can, yes it is worth it, you do save up to 70% on the price of the cartridge, I think the cartridge yeild is about 400 pages that is by memory I will be close, the only thing to watch for is how much ink you put in the cartridge, go slow, and when it starts to come out the top, suck back 1cc of ink, clean the cartridge with ONLY 99% isopropyl alcohol of any ink, clean the contact board on the back of the cartridge with the alcohol and a few Q tips, when you do this make sure you turn the Q tip sideways and don't rub to hard, always keep the Q tip clean, when you change Q tips always dip into the alcohol, it is a good idea to put the cap back on the alcohol it does evapourate quite rapidly, hope ths helped and good luck.
I have refilled my hp cartridges many times and it can be messy the secret seems to be to refill them before they get completely empty and do'nt put too much ink in
You just leave the cartridge at the store, they refill it for you, you pick it up later. Right now (Jan. 13-19) Walgreen's will do the refills for $5 (both black and color). Normally they're $10 for the black and $15 for the color. Heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new cartridge! (I also use the #56 and #57)

  • My printer is printing out my photos yellow, my ink is full and im using the correct paper?? help?

Could be a couple of things. One is you have the yellow ink where black ink should be, possible if a new printer and not read manual properly.

Another one is the drivers haven't been installed properly, not at all, or have been corrupted somehow.... happens.

Most printers these days have programs you install before plugging in the printer, might be another reason if its USB printer. Have to install CD first and then plug in printer to USB port when it tells you, then it finishes installation.

If it is only just your photos, can only think of some weird settings in your RGB balance somewhere, when did all this start?? Need more info really to rule out the above scenarios. buy new ink cartridges
If we did that for every American household that runs out of ink, the printer companies would be wealthier than Bill Gates.

Go to your nearest electronics store and buy some ink cartridges. If you use an inkjet, get some color cartridges too.

Printers all have different locations on where to replace used cartridges. For that, consult your user's manual.
Walgreen's refills print cartridges for around $15.

With the cost of printers vs. cartridges - I guess that idea is not so far fetched.

There are lots of places on the Internet that sell remanufactured ink cartridges for less than new.
there is no point in buying a new printer from anywhere between $150 to $1000 depending on the quality of the printer you want ... but it is up to you .. the cheapest and most sensible solution would be to get the cartridge refilled or get a new cartridge ... you can get cartridges at electronics stores ... office stores like office depot and staples and walmart carries many different styles of cartridges so they are fairly easy to get your hands on

I put new ink on my dell 922 printer and the color says its incorrect. HELP!
This happened to me with my Epson. The first thing you want to do it obviously double check the type of cartridge you bought. Just make sure it is actually the one you need. the thing that was the issue in my computer was the cartridge wasn't place perfectly in the slot. the electronics on the cartridge itself are picky with placement. try taking it out examine for damage and try putting it back in. it took me about 5 or so tries before it recognized it. ESPECIALLY if you bought the cheap brand instead of dell brand. which is nothing to be ashamed of... that all i buy and they work great. Putting these in is kind of like that old nintendo, you just have to keep trying until the game reads. (I would not recommend licking you cartridge though) :) but blowing some dust away may help if you are despirate

Is there any ink in a new paccked printer?

Usually they provide one of each of the cartridges in the carton. They want you to get it up and running with no grief. I know that the ones from Brother come with full cartridges as part of the initial set.Is there any ink in a new paccked printer?
Printers usually come with an ink cartridge or toner cartridge. They are usually ';starter'; ones and will only be half full.Is there any ink in a new paccked printer?
Yes, but sometimes it's a starter cartridge. These companys make more money off of the cartridges than they do the printer. They can cost $30 just for a black cartridge. I had a Lexmark, and it was very poor with ink. I finally tossed it out.If you're in the store, just read what's on the box.It will tell you what comes with it. And be careful, many don't even come with the cable you need to connect it to the computer. And that can run another $10-$20...
Yes, but you must be sure to remove the protective packing and tape from them before you use the printer.

3.reposition the inkjets. they may be in the printer, but they might not be in CORRECTLY. (this happened to me once)

    4. if all else fails, contact Dell. have the serial number and everything else ready. also, you could visit http://www.dell.com/ and go to customer support and see if anyone else has had this problem...the answer should be on the site.

%26gt;:(I bought new ink cartridges for my printer.?
    1) to test the printer cartridge, get a damp paper towel and stamp the printer cartridge's printhead on the paper towel. if you see a solid line of ink, the printer cartridge is working, if not, use a water spray bottle to spray the head. makes sure cartridge is dry before inserting into printer, and be gentle with the print head

    2) reinstall printer drivers

    3) get an HP printer
Did you take the little pieces of tape off the ink cartridges?

Edit: I had to ask!! You never know on here!

Ok try rebooting the computer and maybe it will reset the driver. It may not be an ink problem but a communication problem between the printer and PC. Often simply rebooting helps correct this.

Well first Laser Jet and Ink jet or the same just what differnt companys call it. Laser Jet is what HP calls there Ink jet printer. If you mean a laser print. The best reason to go lase if you printing black and white is Laser coast about 1 penny a page and inkjet is 3 to 6 cents a page depending on the printer

If your trying to print something black, you need to get a new black cartridge. Otherwise, get a new color cartridge.
Probably Magenta, since Cyan + Yellow make Green
most printers have only two cartridges. Tri color and black. So you probably need the color one.

You can go into your printer properties, toolbox and check out how full they are.

Printer not printing red ink - red prints out yellow; help please??

Hi, my printer (Brother- MFC-3240) is not printing red ink. Everytime I print try to red, it's yellow. All the different colors ink are in right and filled up all the way and the computer shows that it recognizes that.... Anyone have any ideas how to fix it??? Thanks so much! :)Printer not printing red ink - red prints out yellow; help please??
It is highly probable your red [Magneta] Printhead is clogged.

    Magneta [red] is one of the three primary printing colors;

    1. Yellow 2. Magneta 3. Cyan

I am not familiar with Brother printers [HP only] - I do not know if your Printheads are located in your Inkjet cartridges, or if they are in the printer itself.

If your Brother Printheads are in the Inkjet cartridges, you might E-mail me; there are several different ways of cleaning, depending on the degree of the clog.

If your Printheads are actually a part of your printer, I would really not know the best way to clean, but the cleaning solutions I use here for HP's [Printhead in Inkjet cartridge]:

    01. Hot, but not boiling water.

    02. Hot, but not boiling 50% - 50% mixture of Ammonia %26amp; water.

01 + 02: Hold Printhead - Only - in hot water or mixture for 12 - 15 seconds. Using a paper towel, firmly hold Printhead vertically onto paper towel as to where ink will ';Wick'; into paper towel. This may be done several times.

For very stubborn colgs, Printhead may be soaked overnight.

    * Be very careful of your Printhead - even ';Wiping'; Printhead with paper towel can cause damage to Printhead - it doesn't take much.

    03. Using a cotton Q-Tip %26amp; Isopropyl Alcohol [99% is best - 91% would work - if nothing else is avaliable, 87%], GENTLY rub the Printhead with Alcohol - this may be tried several times.

If your Printheads are a part of your printer, you could use the above for cleaning, but I'm not sure how you would get the cleaning fluid to the clogged Printhead.

If you could find ';Carm'; here @ Yahoo-Answers, he could probably help you greatly - he has been in the printer repair business for 20 + years.

    Good Luck,

    Ken C.

Can I use just one ink cartridge in my hp printer?

I have yet to see a deskjet printer from HP continue to print if one of the cartridges runs out. Most manufacturers set their printers up this way. It'll start giving you messages about replacing the ink and it will stop printing until you replace it.Can I use just one ink cartridge in my hp printer?
You will have to have both cartridges in the printer or it will not work.

If you want a cheaper way to get your cartridges filled rather than buying new ones, you can go to a drugstore in your town and get them refilled for about half the price as buying new ones. I use Walgreen's, they charge $15 per refill, whereas, I pay $30 for a new cartridge. I mention this because I figure that you are trying to use one because it's so expensive to buy another one, and you are out of ink.Can I use just one ink cartridge in my hp printer?
No,you need both cartridges to mix the black with the color to create black, or true black
    Most printers require both cartridges.
    Yes
ya but i will have to be black

How much I reduce the ink comsuption printing in draft versus Normal or Best on the ink jet and laser printers?

    Hi Edwin

Between normal and Draft, you save 60% of the ink. What happens in draft mode is that, the printer uses less ink because due to the output being at half the resolution than in normal mode.

As for Best vs Draft, you save 75% of the ink.How much I reduce the ink comsuption printing in draft versus Normal or Best on the ink jet and laser printers?
That depends upon the printer, it is generally anywhere from 20-50% on draft versus normal.

Best again depending upon the printer can use up to 6X the ink used to print on normal.

  • Need a good a good all in one printer. Can't afford to spend alot on ink refills. Was looking at the Kodak ESP?

As someone who was in the computer hardware business for years (though I rarely sold printers since I couldn't compete with the crazy rebates) I have always recommended Epson. The print quality is excellent, even on plain paper. I have photos I printed on a 640 about ten years ago hanging in my office which still look good, though not as good as the ones from the CX8400 on glossy paper. The warranty is excellent. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. I had one customer who needed this. He called one afternoon and had the replacement two days later. Another client bought a Canon. It needed two repairs within a few months. Each time it was taken to the repair center, then picked up a few days later. This client runs a specialty printing business and this really hurt. They have since bought an Epson and have had no down time since.

Epson has also made things easier for their customers by standardizing their cartridges. Most of their printers use one of two types. The three-color plus black use T069 (CX5000 CX6000 CX7000 CX7400 CX7450 CX8400 CX9400FAX CX9475Fax NX100 NX105 NX400 Workforce 30/40/500/600 and C120) and the 5-color plus black use T078 (R260 R280 R380 RX580 RX595 and RX680). This means you should be able to find a lot of people who use the same cartridges you do and possibly buy in quantity. When it's time to replace the printer, the next model will probably also use the same ones.

Though I am quite happy with the results of the CX8400, if you really want the absolute best photo quality, go with one of the 5-color ones. Some of the models above include scanner and/or printing on DVDs.

Right now Epson is having a blowout on the 5-color R280 for $60. It even prints on DVDs.

The biggest complaint about all inkjets is the high cost of ink cartridges. http://ccs-digital.com has cartridges for about $4.50 each. They also have a unique product - a two-piece cartridge where the ink is in a separate tank inside the cartridge. When the ink runs out, you replace just the ink tank and the original chip resets itself to full. By keeping the same chip, you save 1.50 per cartridge. Ink tanks are only $3 and hold 50% more ink than disposable cartridges.

Refilling is messy! Best to buy new cartridges. I have an Epson printer and I use compatibles which are cheaper and just as good!
    Go to www.ebay.com

Type in your type of printer and then look to see how much the ink cartridges are. You can see the different types of prices for both the ones you refill and the ones you don't. I personally have the ones you don't refill because I can get cartridges for real cheap. It also depends on the type of printer, though. For Hewlett Packard, they have really expensive ink cartridges and it's almost cheaper to buy the whole printer itself sometimes. You were saying you have an epson, so I'm guessing you can get cartridges for a good price on ebay.

PLEASE HELP!!! it prints like it still needs ink, and it also says its running low on ink! what do i do please help!Have a dell photo aio 922 printer, and i replaced the ink, its still not working!?
When you say ';It prints like it still needs ink'; do you mean, faded prints, streaky prints, or no print at all? Did you purchase refilled cartridges or new ones? Details!

    Heres a couple ideas:

    1. if they are refilled, you have to ignore the ';No / low ink'; warning, because most printers cant identify when a cartridge has been refilled.

    2. poor print quality is caused by 2 things.

A: Dirty, dry, or clogged print heads. try cleaning the print head with a damp paper towel. Try to wipe away any dried ink, dirt or debry from the cartridge and try it agian.

B: the print head may be damaged, in witch case all you can do is deal with the poor prints or throw it away.

For any print quality problem you need to check waste tank. For any ink jet / bubble jet printer the waste tank is located below print head's home position.

Is there such thing as a printer ';eating'; your ink even when you are not printing anything?

I have a Brother DCP - 120C printer, and it seems to me that the printer is somehow using up my ink without me actually printing anything. The other day I got a notification that my Cyan ink was running low, but I was confused on how that happened because I haven't printed anything that required Cyan colored ink. I think this might also apply to my other ink cartridges for this printer..

Does anybody know what is going on with my printer? Is there such thing as a printer ';eating'; your ink even when you are not printing anything?
well the way printer works is that it mix the ink you have to make the color you want to print. if the printer print only one color the you will need about 50 or more ink cartridges in order to print. how when you are not printing anything and the ink is in the printer it could air out or dry up which ever tern you understand. so when you are not using the printer for a extended amount of time you should take the ink out of the printer. air will dry the ink up. also as i say before the printer use all the ink to make a certain color. if you don't want it to do that print only what ink color you have for example. if you have 3 cartridges in there and they are blue black and red then print stuff that are blue black or red not a combination of all. so in order to make green it will make to mix red and yellow or something to get the colorIs there such thing as a printer ';eating'; your ink even when you are not printing anything?
Yes. You're using the ink. Just because you don't appear to need a specific color in a document, the printer has to blend the available inks together to get the color output. So, while a page might not have a specific color, it might have one that requires that color mixed with another.
Well, ink can dry out over time. If you haven't printed anything Cyan in many months, it's probably all dried out by now. Also, doing printer head cleaning also uses up ink, even if you aren't printing anything.
Probably a leaky cartridge nozzle. Youll see the ink on the bottom of the cartridges resting point. The place where the cartridge sits when not in use.
You use cyan, no doubt. Almost everything you print will use a color, just some appear to stand out more then others.

If Ink Cartriges for printers are very commonly used, how come they are so expencive?

Just wondering because schools and offices and businesses would have heaps so why are they still very expencive to buy?If Ink Cartriges for printers are very commonly used, how come they are so expencive?
The printer companies use the drug pusher business model. They hook you on the printer and rip you off on the ink. It's become worse since Epson won a lawsuit which allows printer companies to make printers which refuse to work with compatible ink. They have cut the amount if ink in half and raised prices. Ink is now about $5,000 a gallon. And you thought gas was high!

A lot of the compatibles, particularly the ones on ebay, wont work with the newer printers, but there are still sites which have cartridges guaranteed to work. For Epson try http://ccs-digital.com/ink.aspIf Ink Cartriges for printers are very commonly used, how come they are so expencive?
I think you may have answered your own question. A part of why they are so expensive is because people use them, lots of them. Thus they can be charged at an inflated rate, and companies can get away with it.

Secondly they are expensive to manufacture, not nearly enough to justify the cost, however they are complicated little guys. A lot of research goes into designing them so that they cannot be easily refilled, refurbished or reused as well.
Go on EBAY you can find it WAYYYY cheaper..at least I did, six cartiges for 30.00
that is where the companys make the money not on the printer

My Printer will not read the new black ink cartridge, why not?

I have a cx8400 and just replaced all the ink. It takes versions 69 for blue/pink/yellow and 68 or 69 for black. It reads all the others except the black, why?My Printer will not read the new black ink cartridge, why not?
Because ink jet printers are crappy...Seriously there is nothing in the way where you plug the cartage in...clean itMy Printer will not read the new black ink cartridge, why not?
Okay are you using original Epson or 3rd party or refilled? Third party will not work due to a firmware update Epson did, and the refills will not work cause the chip has a micro fuse in it that when read as empty burns out.

Take it out and put it back in. If it doesn't work, return the cartridge. They should have a warranty.
hen u install the ink did u run the software for asking u if change the ink . also make sure it is seated good

I have a Dell printer that needs a new black ink cartridge. Is it easy to refill, or better off buying a new?

should I take it to a refill store or do it myself?? I've never done it before???I have a Dell printer that needs a new black ink cartridge. Is it easy to refill, or better off buying a new?
Did you know that Dell printers are made by Lexmark, which is the worst printer company in the world according to Reader's Reviews in PC Magazine? If it were me, I would get rid of the Dell printer and buy an HP. HP ink can be found almost anywhere, even in most Wal Marts. It will save you a lot of money in the long run. If you need just a cheap printer, look at the HP D3180. For photos look at the HP C4180 or C5180.I have a Dell printer that needs a new black ink cartridge. Is it easy to refill, or better off buying a new?
I have a Lexmark all in one and get my refills done at Cartridge World and have never had a problem except make sure you keep your printer going at least once a week otherwise the nozzles get clogged and it uses a lot of ink to test them and clean them. Any probs ask Catridge World.
I have refilled mine several times with good results but I have talked to friends that didn't have such good luck.
get a new one, It will be a lot cheaper than replacing the carpet because of a big ink spill! ;-)
I would take it to have it refilled, do it yourself and it maybe messy, plus you can price before hand and see what is better for you. I've had mine refilled with no problems, because the price was in my range.

  • Do all printers come with ink cartridges?

I am having problems with my printer?!? It seems cheaper to get a new printer but do they come with cartridges? It does not seem to state anywhere?Do all printers come with ink cartridges?
The answers you got are correct of course but they don't give you the correct solution.

If the printer you are offered without cartridges is, for example a Canon IP6000 at $40 then it is a bargain since you would pay $150 at a store with cartridges included.

And supposing you did buy a used printer with cartridges installed. They might be half used up or almost empty.

As for having to pay $45 for a new set, this happens only once because you can easily refill those cartidges (as I have) dozens of times.

I buy (and you can too at any bulk site) a 500 ml bottle of any color for $17. ($20 by the time you get it delivered). Since a cartridge takes 9 ml to fill it you will get 50 fills for the $20.

I fill my six cartridges for about $2.00 each time. I print dozens of full color pictures as well as colored documents and am still using the cartridges I bought two years ago.

Of course you have to learn to fill them. It takes some care with those 25cents syringes and cellophane tape over the outlet etc but it is well worth it if you print a lot.

If not then just buy the refilled ones at about $5 each at the bulk ink sites.

Hope thishelps.Do all printers come with ink cartridges?
Not all of them do anymore actually, most printer companies have gotten wise to the fact that people are just simply replacing their printers.

Some will ship with black only, some with color only, some with none at all. It will tell you on the side of the box what is included in the box.

Keep in mind with any printer purchased the cartridge you will get is a trial cartridge. A trial cartridge has a fraction of the ink of the cartridge you would buy in a store, generally less than half.

It actually really is not worth it to replace the printer in most cases (unless you have a lexmark, all lexmarks should be replaced with printers that don't suck)
All of the printers I've seen (inkjet or laserjet) come with printer cartridges. Realize that Inkjet cartridges are super expensive while the inkjet printer itself is cheap. Laserjets are expensive while the cartridges are cheap because they print out 1000-5000 sheets (where as inkjet averages 400 or so).

To answer your question: yes unless you buy it used then it could be in any condition.
I would suggest getting a new printer and buying a continuous ink system instead individual cartridges...it is equal to 61 cartridges of each color so the need to refill it is alot less often. They are easy to install and not messy at all...it took me about 5 minutes to get mine completely installed and when I need to refill it the tanks are outside of my printer so there is no need to remove the cartridges. The cartridges are also set with non-expiring chips so there is no need to reset the printer. I am very please with the quality of the ink also. It has saved me a fortune. The best place I found that has all printer models and I bought mine here http://www.printer-ink-cartridge-refills鈥?/a> Printer Ink Cartridge Refills and Continuous Ink Systems

Good luck and happy printing :-)
All new printers have ink cartridges. You'd have to go to e-bay to find one without. And actually, they practically give away the new printers and charge for the ink. That's why it's cheaper to get a new one - and skip ever trying to get one repaired.
Most do. I actually know a person that bought 6 printers on clearance for $25 each. The ink is around $45 to replace both. He installed one, took the ink out of the other 5, and sold them on Ebay for $15 to $20 each. Smart guy.
The most printers come with ink cartridges, but sometimes they aren't filled 100%.

I have an Epson 320,(last Xmas) fitted Cont. Ink from day 1. Have printed tons of colour, going like the wind, great system, cheeeeeeeep! Results on Photos...great.Any tried a continuous Ink system for their printer. Are they any good?
Unless you do a TON of printing, the continuous ink system will quite likely be more trouble than it's worth.

In theory, not having to change ink cartridges sounds pretty good but if you don't more than the average home user, you'll probably find that your print heads clog more than ever.

They're really meant for hight volume printing applications. A school might be a good environment for this sort of thing.Any tried a continuous Ink system for their printer. Are they any good?
Really unless you have a higher end printer and are doing an obscene quantity of printing a do not get a CIS.

Using one does require modification and will void a warranty every time.

If you are not using it frequently, don't bother. A main problem is that the tubing will draw back a small amount of ink causing the print head to loose it's prime. The can damage your print head. Also if you are using a lower grade ink you will need to run multiple print head cleanings to maintain quality. Keep in mind that certain parts on most printers namely waste ink containers have a service life and will need to be replaced after high use. Epson dealers will not tough a printer retro fitted with a CIS for repairs.

Ok, you want Cheeeeep. I have an Epson 320 photo, My ink cartridge costs... Would be 拢6.50 for 'Epson' originals

However...I use a 'Continuous Ink Supply System', my 'cartridge full (13ml) works out at forty pence. Once you have the system (costs about 拢20 for the hardware) you get 600ml of ink at a time, for 拢20.... 600/13 = 46 cartridges for 拢20 ok, so its 44 pence....

We were using lexmark, then found out that it'd be cheaper to buy a new printer then to just get the ink! Now we have Epson Stylus DX4050, the ink is about 拢7 and the whole lot was about 拢50 with two free ink cartridges, whereas the Lexmark was almost 拢30 for one cartridge.
That's why a lot of small businesses are switching over to laser printers and even many home users. They aren't that expensive, the print quality is far better, they print faster and the price per sheet is less than 1/4 the cost of an ink jet printer. Toner cartridges are not cheap but they last for more than a thousand pages so you rarely have to change them.

You could try a Canon Pixma iP 3300, it has some good software and the best is it has the separate cartridges Black/Red/Blue/Yellow, like that you only change the colour you need, you do not waste the other colours like in a lot of printers, it also has an Impression Rapid that uses less ink for the things that are not so important. It costs about 拢50 or 拢60 at present I think, but you may find the older version the iP 3000, and that is as good may be a fraction slower. Oh and the cartridges are made by a lot of different firms, so you will find cheaper one on the market.

Remove the cartridge and insure that has been done.

    Sarge
Have you touched the chip on the cartridge? If you have, this could make the printer think the cartridge is empty and if this is the case you may have to put new cartridges in(without touching the chip with your fingers)

Photocopying is a different matter as the computer is not used. The printer monitoring programme is only running when printing through the computer and it is then that the false ink level would be displayed and the offending colour could be identified.

Unfortunately this is the printer manufacturers method of ensuring that you do not refill the cartridge with another company's ink. On the plus side there is a way to reset the chip to give an always full reading.
Turn on printer. press Ctrl+P for the folder to appear, click preference, tab maintenence.

I have a dell all in one a940 printer. It shows plenty of ink in cartridge but its printing very faint.?

any suggestions?I have a dell all in one a940 printer. It shows plenty of ink in cartridge but its printing very faint.?
Your ink level is just a page counter.

If you have been printing things like photographs which use much more ink than the ink level is calibrated for, then you cartridge may be empty.

If you don't use your printer often, IE withing the last couple weeks, there is a good chance the print head on your cartridge has dried out. Run a couple print head cleanings (your manual will tell you how to do that). If you see no improvement then it is unfortunately time to replace the cartridge.I have a dell all in one a940 printer. Call up DELL... They offer good technical support... and if there is a certain problem on the cartridges or the printer, they will replace either one. This is the best and the safest bet than going for a separate set of cartridges or ask someone to fix the problem or try any other methods.

Mine did the same thing... it wasn't reading the level properly - I replaced the cartrige and it worked good as new!
Take out the cartridge and wipe the head with a neat cloth. There may be dust particles on the head.
Check if you are printing in 'draft' mode. If not, try replacing the cartridge.
Another thing you might want to try.. is to do go into my computer.... or control panel.. look for printers and or faxes machines.. right click on it, and do a Cartridge cleaning.... its really simple, you might just have a clog inside the ink is all. I have done this a few or more times and it seems to work.... however sometimes just buying a new one is over all better..... Here is full instructions on how to clean your ink cartridge.

    Control Panel

    Printer and fax

when your printer opens up.. right click it and click

on Printing preferences, another window pops up click on Services...then it will say service this device... click it.. then choose to align or clean cartridges, or print test page.. you want clean cartridges... do all options until no other options work, if the ink doesn't work after cleaning them and doing a test page.. suggestion is to buy new ink... Good luck..
Use the printer software's built in nozzle cleaning utility!
