If Ink Cartriges for printers are very commonly used, how come they are so expencive?

Just wondering because schools and offices and businesses would have heaps so why are they still very expencive to buy?If Ink Cartriges for printers are very commonly used, how come they are so expencive?
The printer companies use the drug pusher business model. They hook you on the printer and rip you off on the ink. It's become worse since Epson won a lawsuit which allows printer companies to make printers which refuse to work with compatible ink. They have cut the amount if ink in half and raised prices. Ink is now about $5,000 a gallon. And you thought gas was high!

A lot of the compatibles, particularly the ones on ebay, wont work with the newer printers, but there are still sites which have cartridges guaranteed to work. For Epson try http://ccs-digital.com/ink.aspIf Ink Cartriges for printers are very commonly used, how come they are so expencive?
I think you may have answered your own question. A part of why they are so expensive is because people use them, lots of them. Thus they can be charged at an inflated rate, and companies can get away with it.

Secondly they are expensive to manufacture, not nearly enough to justify the cost, however they are complicated little guys. A lot of research goes into designing them so that they cannot be easily refilled, refurbished or reused as well.
Go on EBAY you can find it WAYYYY cheaper..at least I did, six cartiges for 30.00
that is where the companys make the money not on the printer
