HP Deskjet 5150 printer problem: Black ink won't print. Help?

I have an HP Deskjet 5150 printer. One day the black ink stops working. I buy a new cartridge (yes, took off the cap thing) and it STILL won't print out any ink.

What is the problem?HP Deskjet 5150 printer problem: Black ink won't print. Help?
If doesnot work dont buy another cartrdidge. Throw the printer away and buy a new one with both the cartridgers included in the box.HP Deskjet 5150 printer problem: Black ink won't print. Help?
Take out the cartridge and shake it, then put it back in. sometimes they sit on hte shelves at the store too long and the ink settles. if that doesn't work, have you tried troubleshooting your printer or re-installing the printer software?
You should try cleaning the printer heads (i tihnk that's what they're called) there should be a function from your printer menu on your computer that tells you how to do it.

Other then that...I would just make sure you've snuggly fit the cartridge in.
Use the printer software to do some '; ink purging'; if it still does not help then it might be a problem in ur printer not the ink cart.

BTW, did the printer prompt to replace the ink cart in the first place. If there wasn't any prompt - did u take out the cart and compare the weight with a new one. Was it very light or not so much ??

Chances are the old cart still has ink left in it !!
