How come ink cartridges for injet printers cost so much money?

For a colour ink jet cartridge you have to pay like 拢40 but why should they cost that much when all they are are a bit of plastic filled with some powered ink.

People are paying the price thats why.You can have them delivered ,but buying in bulk means a lot of usage.buying on line,you can get some good prices,but its a risk.
Why don't you buy compatibles, I get mine off the Internet for under 拢2 and they are very good, well I have had no trouble with them up till now.
Because the printers are cheap. They have to make their money somehow. Persuading someone to buy their printer (by selling it cheaply) locks them into buying their cartridges. So they charge lttle for the machine and make their real money on the consumables!

Its called the law of supply and demand the more people who need it the more they charge
I get mine from either Asda or Tesco. They have them so uch cheaper. eg My printer is a Lexmark and the cartridges are 拢25-拢30, in Asda they're only 拢12.
