I have a brother mfc 240 printer and I ran out of ink.?

So I went and bought some black ink rather than the color to save a few bucks. After putting in the new ink, the printer still wont print because the ink needs to be refilled. I already went to the printer preferences and switched it from color to greyscale but it still wont print. What am I overlooking? ThanksI have a brother mfc 240 printer and I ran out of ink.?
If you running XP you have to replace cartridge first then tell pc you going to do it. then go to printer properties(right click on default printer) and advanced and change setting to monochrome or black, ther are three drop boxes to change, oh the other is darkness of print, then click apply.I have a brother mfc 240 printer and I ran out of ink.?
Try finding an area that allows you to tell your software you replaced the ink cartridge.
There is an option to print in black ink only. But this is possible in maintenance mode(technical mode)This is not supposed to be done by the user.Pls contact your service provider.I can not tell you the particular code.
